Wandsworth Council is considering a proposal to demolish existing buildings on Lombard Road to make way for a 34-story tower at Heliport House, 38 Lombard Road SW11 3RP. The proposed development includes commercial space and up to 143 residential apartments across three basement levels and the ground and upper floors.
The application was discussed at the Conservation and Heritage Advisory Committee meeting on 14 July 2025, according to the Public Reports Pack.
The committee, which includes representatives from local societies such as the Battersea Society and Wandsworth Historical Society, advises the council on development proposals that could affect conservation areas and listed buildings. According to the Agenda, the committee's objectives include advising the council on how to secure the care, maintenance and enhancement of any conservation areas in the Borough.
The committee's terms of reference, as adopted on 6 May 2025, state that it advises the council on development proposals that would likely affect the character or appearance of conservation areas, statutorily listed or locally listed buildings, making reference to wider planning considerations.
