Hounslow Council is embarking on an ambitious project, Vision 2050, to shape the borough's long-term future through inclusive engagement with residents, businesses, and third-sector organisations.

The Hounslow Health and Wellbeing Board heard about the project at their meeting on Monday, July 14 2025. Vision 2050 aims to develop a long-term strategy that will underpin the council's next corporate plan, informing the council's next corporate plan and aligning with other borough-level strategies and initiatives.

The project is structured around three key areas: looking forward, imagining together, and preparing for the future.

Looking forward involves horizon scanning, trend analysis, scenario planning, and roundtable conversations to discuss potential futures for Hounslow.

Imagining together focuses on co-creating the vision through community events and outreach to local partnership groups. The 'imagining together' phase aims to include residents of all ages and backgrounds through events like the Civic Design Challenge, Dragons' Den workshop, Feltham Fête, Summer of Culture & Storytelling, and outreach to local partnership groups.

Preparing for the future involves reflecting on how the council can steward the future and be a good ancestor for future generations.

The Vision 2050 project will result in an online repository of engagement feedback, a resource that may be drawn upon for additional projects, and where contributors can see how their insights have been incorporated into wider work.

The council is encouraging residents to participate in the Vision 2050 project through the Let's Talk Hounslow online platform. Residents can take a quick poll or join the conversation in the forum to share their vision for the future. Those preferring to share their thoughts directly can email taru.jaroszynski@hounslow.gov.uk.
