Kensington and Chelsea Council has announced it has exceeded its tree planting target while also upgrading schools with green technology, aiming to reduce pollution and work towards Net Zero targets.

The K&C Council has exceeded its tree planting target and retrofitted schools with energy-efficient upgrades, according to a report presented at the Overview & Scrutiny Committee meeting on Tuesday 15 July 2025. The report, which reviewed performance in the third and fourth quarters of 2024/25, highlighted the planting of 505 trees, surpassing the goal of 500, and the retrofitting of five schools with new heat pumps and energy efficiency measures. These measures are projected to have a long-term impact on the council's carbon footprint and energy consumption.

The specific energy efficiency measures implemented in the five schools included new heat pumps and other upgrades, as detailed in the Corporate Performance and Council Action Plan Delivery Report Q3-Q4 2024/25. The report noted these achievements as part of a broader assessment of the council's progress against internal measures, external indicators, and key commitments.
