Greenwich is set to develop a refreshed vision for Health and Adult Social Care from 2025-2030, aiming to better showcase the voices of those receiving support and demonstrate how services help people thrive in Greenwich. The vision will focus on reducing inequalities and improving services, ensuring that the voices of vulnerable or marginalized residents are heard and incorporated.

The Public Health Team has identified six key ingredients to guide future work to decrease health inequalities: community development, population health management, health in all policies, community and stakeholder engagement, inclusion health and building a wider public health workforce.

The initiative was discussed at the Health and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Panel meeting on Thursday, 17 July 2025, where the Cabinet Member Update report was considered. The vision will align with the council's corporate plan, Our Greenwich, and build on opportunities to narrow health inequalities, digitally enable residents and workers, and improve supported housing options. The refreshed vision will build further on the opportunities for digitally enabling residents and workers.

The report also mentions a need for more Extra Care provision in the borough as an alternative to institutional care settings. The Cabinet Member has secured political commitment to deliver 3 additional sites in the borough through the Council and its partners.

The Cabinet Member will work alongside officers to engage with residents and incorporate their perspectives into the vision. Engagement is planned for July, with a report to the cabinet expected by October.

The Cabinet Member plans to convene a summit to translate the Director of Public Health report's recommendations into action, bringing together partners to implement the Marmot principles in Greenwich, ensuring that Everyone deserves to live the healthiest life they can in Greenwich .
