Hanworth residents have petitioned Hounslow Council to remove an experimental e-bike parking bay on Elizabeth Way, citing infrequent use and lack of consultation. Residents also report that numerous Lime e-bikes are abandoned in the area on a weekly basis, suggesting the bay is intended for use, at least in part, by e-bikes from the Lime rental scheme.

The petition, signed by 82 people and submitted by Nicholas Moore, was presented at the Hanworth Area Forum meeting on Monday, 21 July 2025. According to the petition, the e-bike parking bay was installed in September 2023 after initially being placed in a highly dangerous location on Queens Way. While the specific safety concerns that led to the initial relocation from Queens Way are not detailed in the meeting information, residents claim the bay should have been subject to consultation after 12 months, a period later extended to 18 months, but this never occurred.

The petition states:

We the undersigned petition the council to To remove the Experimental Ebike parking bay in Elizabeth Way (Hanworth Park). It was installed in September 2023 (having initially been installed in a highly dangerous location at the top of Queens Way - Hanworth Park) and should have been subject to Residents consultation by now (after a period of 18 months, extended from the original12 months), but this has not happened, and I am given to understand that will now not happen at all!!

This Experimental Ebike parking bay is infrequently used, however numerous Lime Ebikes are found abandoned, on a weekly basis in the immediate neighbourhood!!

Residents suggest an alternative location on Snakey Lane at its junction with Sunbury Way, which they say is on a dedicated cycle path to Feltham and would have absolutely NO impact on local residents whatsoever , according to the Petition 01 Experimental Ebike Parking bay in Elizabeth Way.

The Hanworth Area Forum also discussed other matters, including fly tipping, open green spaces, traffic issues, and Hounslow Highways services, as detailed in the Public reports pack Monday 21-Jul-2025 19.30 Hanworth Area Forum.
