New figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) indicate a significant population surge in Newham, with an estimated 36,000 new residents since 2021. The data, presented at a Newham Council Cabinet meeting on Tuesday 22 July 2025, highlights the challenges and opportunities this growth presents for the borough.
Conrad Hall, Corporate Director of Resources, brought the ONS data to the cabinet's attention. According to the 2025 data, Newham's population has risen from 350,000 in 2021 to 386,000.
