Lewisham's Licensing Sub-Committee A convened on Monday, 28 July 2025, to elect a chair for the remainder of the municipal year 2025/26.
The election was the first item on the agenda for the meeting, as detailed in the election of chair document. Councillors were also asked to declare any personal interests in any item on the agenda, according to the declarations of interest document. It is not known whether any councillors declared any interests.

The potential exclusion was due to the discussion being likely to involve the disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 1, 3 and 7 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972. Paragraph 1 relates to information about an individual, paragraph 3 relates to financial or business affairs, and paragraph 7 relates to legal privilege. The public interest in maintaining the exemption was considered to outweigh the public interest in disclosing the information.
It is not known whether the press and public were ultimately excluded from the meeting, nor is the outcome of the discussion regarding the Star & Garter AKA Dokis Lounge known.
