Plans for a basement extension at 285-287 King's Road have drawn 35 objections from local residents, Kensington and Chelsea Council's Planning Applications Committee heard on Tuesday, 12 August 2025.

The application, PP/25/02664, concerns the lowering of existing basements and extending them beneath the full footprint of the property.
The council report, found in the S073 report kings road, stated that the proposed development involves the deepening and extending of basement space to align with the existing ground floor footprint, including a small service riser in the courtyard. The report also notes that the proposal meets the relevant policies in the Local Plan.
The Planning Applications Committee convened to discuss a range of planning and advertisement consent applications. The agenda frontsheet and public reports pack detailed a variety of applications, with a focus on preserving the character of conservation areas and ensuring good living conditions for residents.
The committee members present at the meeting were Cllr James Husband (Chair, Planning Committee and Planning Applications Committee), Cllr Walaa Idris (Chair, Family Services Select Committee), Cllr Sam Mackover (Vice-Chair, Environment Select Committee) and Cllr Sonia Zvedeniuk.
It is recommended that the committee grants planning permission with the conditions listed in Section 9 of the S073 report kings road.
