Uxbridge residents will not be getting new parking spaces on Dyson Drive, despite a petition supporting the proposal.

Hillingdon Council's Planning Committee has refused an application to create nine off-street parking spaces on Dyson Drive in Uxbridge, despite a petition with 54 signatures supporting the proposal. The decision was made at a meeting of the Hillingdon Planning Committee on Thursday, 04 September 2025.

The existing parking provision on Dyson Drive is 70 spaces serving 56 properties, equating to a parking ratio of 1.25. The planning officer stated that the proposal was contrary to policy because it would result in an over-provision of parking, would detrimentally impact on highway safety, and would fail to promote sustainable modes of transport.

The applicant had requested an extension of time to implement parking restrictions and submit the findings within a submitted Transport Safety Note. The applicant had now submitted this document which states there to be two main issues with the parking situation on Dyson Drive which relate to anti-social behaviour and highway safety. Whilst regrettable, the antisocial behaviour issues are not material to the assessment of this planning application. Notwithstanding this point, there is a reference made to the fact that the spaces are not allocated and this results in conflicts.

The officer also stated that the Transport Safety Note lacked any supporting evidence, such as the number of parking tickets issued, to demonstrate that a significant parking issue exists.

The committee agreed with the officer's recommendation and refused the application.
