Greenwich Council is set to review its strategic planning for borough parks, focusing on enhancing biodiversity, climate resilience, and community involvement. The review was scheduled for discussion at the Overview and Scrutiny Committee meeting on 16 October 2025, as noted in the Public reports pack from the 4 September 2025 meeting.

The review aims to assess how the borough's parks are managed to support environmental, health, and community objectives. It will also examine biodiversity initiatives, including tree planting and habitat protection, and evaluate how parks contribute to climate resilience.

According to the meeting agenda, the review will explore how residents and Friends Groups are involved in shaping and maintaining parks, with a focus on inclusivity. While specific actions to increase involvement are not yet detailed, this topic is scheduled for review at the meeting on 16 October 2025. The review will also seek to understand how park improvements are funded and delivered, including the use of Section 106 agreements, Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), and external grants, and how performance is monitored.

The Overview and Scrutiny Committee meeting on 4 September 2025, chaired by Councillor Lauren Dingsdale, included a discussion of the scope of forthcoming reports, including the Borough Parks review. The committee was asked to consider the items outlined and to determine any specific requirements, prior to those reports being commissioned. This was to ensure that its lines of enquiry are addressed, information provided is relevant and appropriate, and scrutiny practice is well directed and effective.
