Bromley Well, a service dedicated to supporting the independence and wellbeing of Bromley residents, has reported high demand for its services and a boost in payments to residents. The Adult Care and Health Policy Development and Scrutiny Committee received an annual monitoring report for the Primary and Secondary Intervention Service (PSIS), also known as Bromley Well, for the period April 2024 to March 2025. The committee monitors the performance of Bromley Well to ensure it provides value for money.

Bromley Well can be accessed through the Single Point of Access, which acts as the service’s main triage point. The Single Point of Access screens enquiries to provide immediate brief interventions where appropriate. Following the triage process, residents are supported via the Single Point of Access, referred to the relevant PSIS service for more specialist support, or referred to external services to ensure they get the relevant information, advice, guidance or practical support as required.

The report, presented on Tuesday 9 September 2025, highlighted that demand for Bromley Well's services has been consistently high across most service pathways. In response, the service has revised its offer to cope with the increased need, including developing more effective and efficient ways for residents to contact the service without compromising quality or timeliness of interventions, for instance offering online forms which has seen a very successful take up as well as varying the service offer to ensure the service continues to offer relevant services.

A key achievement noted in the report is the increase in payments made to Bromley residents, exceeding £1 million compared to the previous year, with payments reaching £2.4 million in 2023-24. These payments include Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Attendance Allowance (AA).

Bromley Well offers support through nine pathways:

  • Adult Carers
  • Young Carers
  • Learning Disability
  • Physical Disability
  • Carers Respite at Home service
  • Elderly Frail

Bromley Well also collaborates with other local organisations. Where more specialist intervention is required, a referral is made to more specialist Bromley Well services or to external services as appropriate. Bromley Well, through Bromley Third Sector Enterprise, has taken a strategic lead in the development of Integrated Neighbourhood Teams. The service has also been working with Bromley Adult Social Care, partnering on strategic issues relating to service improvements and challenges, with a key example being the work to support the Adult Services Digital Transformation programme.

The Adult Care and Health Policy Development and Scrutiny Committee will continue to monitor the performance and impact of Bromley Well, ensuring it meets the needs of the community. More information can be found on the Open Council Network.
