Fifteen confirmed cases of measles have been reported in Camden between 2 June and 28 July 2025, according to a Health Protection Update given at a recent Camden Council Health and Wellbeing Board meeting. Measles rates across London have begun to increase again this summer after a very large outbreak in the summer of 2024 and subsequent decline of cases.
The report from Kirsten Watters, Director of Public Health, noted that the increase follows the London-wide outbreak in 2024. Several of the new cases were connected to an outbreak in a Camden primary school.
Vaccination UK worked closely with the school to identify children who had not received two doses of MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine and used this as an opportunity to contact parents with the offer of a discussion about MMR and to book an appointment at catch-up clinics. MMR vaccine promotion has continued via leaflets (including Arabic, Somali and Bangladeshi translations) and advertising of catch-up clinics.
The Health Protection Update was part of the agenda for the Health and Wellbeing Board meeting on 10 September 2025. Other agenda items included the Camden Alcohol Strategy 2025-2030, and the Camden Sexual Wellbeing and Reproductive Health System Review and Work Programme 2025–2030. The board also discussed the NHS 10 Year Plan and its implications for Camden. The full reports pack from the meeting is available here.
