Lewisham Council is set to retrofit 250 homes with energy-efficient upgrades, thanks to £2.5m in funding from the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund. The council has also secured £7.2m in additional funding under the Social Housing Fund Wave 3 to support a 3-year program of retrofit works across Lewisham's housing stock.

The announcement came during a Sustainable Development Select Committee meeting on Thursday, 11 September 2025, where councillors discussed the council's Housing Retrofit Strategy, which was approved by Mayor and Cabinet in March 2025.

The council aims to improve the energy performance of its housing stock, reducing carbon emissions and energy bills for residents. The retrofitting work is expected to be completed by September 2025, according to the meeting report.

The Sustainable Development Select Committee convened to discuss a range of environmental initiatives, including air quality improvements and dockless bike schemes, as detailed in the Public reports pack.
