Hammersmith and Fulham Council is set to invest £3.2 million in CCTV and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to enhance its crime-fighting capabilities.

The investment, approved by the Cabinet on Monday 15 September 2025, will be allocated from 2025/26 to 2027/28. The aim is to create a safer environment for residents by deploying additional CCTV cameras and leveraging technological advancements in AI. The decision was made during a meeting of the Hammersmith and Fulham Council Cabinet, as documented in the Cabinet Agenda.

The investment in CCTV and AI is part of a broader crime strategy aimed at enhancing the borough's ability to combat crime and anti-social behaviour. The meeting minutes indicate that the capital spend will be directed towards additional CCTV cameras, technological advances, and additional capabilities outlined in the report presented to the Cabinet.

The decision is subject to call-in, meaning it could be reviewed by a relevant Policy and Accountability Committee. If no valid call-in requests are received by the deadline, the decision will be implemented.
