Harrow Council has recognised Councillor Jean Lammiman's 30 years of service to the borough.

At a meeting on Thursday, councillors from all parties paid tribute to Councillor Lammiman, acknowledging her long-standing dedication and commitment to the Harrow community. Councillor Lammiman has served as a councillor for 30 years, representing Pinner South.

Councillor Paul Osborn, Leader of the Council, noted the significance of the occasion, stating that this was the first time the council had recognised 30 years of service. He also highlighted the significant roles Councillor Lammiman has held within the council, including her time as deputy leader and her current position as the Portfolio Holder for Adult Services & Public Health.

During the meeting, Councillor Lammiman spoke about some of the challenges she faced when she took on the role of Portfolio Holder for Adult Services & Public Health. She noted that there were no permanent staff even senior strategic directors so we had to work really hard at that stage.

Councillor David Perry, Leader of the Labour Group, also offered his congratulations to Councillor Lammiman, recognising her contributions to adult social care, community culture, and Harrow in Europe.

Councillor Hitesh Karia, fellow ward councillor, spoke of Councillor Lammiman's charm and ability to delegate, and her immense knowledge and experience. He also noted her passion for the community and her kindness.

Councillor Anika Shah-Levy thanked Councillor Lammiman for her kindness and encouragement, regardless of political beliefs.

Councillor Janet Mote recalled memories of working with Councillor Lammiman on the Deputy Lord Lieutenant's Committee and trips to Douai as part of the Harrow and Durham connection.

Councillor Krishna Suresh commended Councillor Lammiman's unwavering commitment to the community and her genuine passion for improving the lives of those she represents.

Councillor Meena Palmer spoke of Councillor Lammiman's warmth, kindness, and humour, and her ability to keep spirits up even in the longest of meetings.

Councillor Ali praised Councillor Lammiman's humility, approachability, and helpfulness.

Councillor Kuhakumaran thanked Councillor Lammiman for her incredible service to the council and the residents of Harrow, and for being a role model.

Councillor Stephen Quick congratulated Councillor Lammiman on her well-deserved accolade, and for being someone he has always looked up to.

In her own remarks, Councillor Lammiman thanked her colleagues for their support and spoke of her time as a councillor.
