A Kilburn venue's bid to extend its opening hours has sparked concerns among local residents, as Camden Council's Licensing Panel E convened on 18 September 2025, to consider the application.

Brondes Age, located at 328 Kilburn High Road, currently operates from 07:00 to 01:30 Monday to Thursday, 07:00 to 02:30 on Fridays and Saturdays, and 07:00 to 00:30 on Sundays. The venue has applied to Camden Council for a variation of its premises licence. The application seeks to extend the hours for licensable activities, including the sale of alcohol, live music, and recorded music, until 03:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. Additionally, the venue aims to extend its opening hours on those days until 03:30 and revise a condition relating to door supervisors.

According to the Public Reports Pack, three representations were received regarding the application, from a Resident Association and two residents. Concerns primarily revolved around potential increases in public nuisance.

The MILAM residents association raised concerns about customers consuming alcohol and drugs in the streets near the junctions with Kilburn High Road and playing loud music from their parked cars. One resident, Jeremy Moorshead, reported experiencing fighting, drug taking and dealing, and urination on properties in Iverson Road, as well as a loud air extractor at the rear of Brondes Age which runs from about 8.30am to 1.30 am. Another resident, Balint Bertok, mentioned increased noise, antisocial behaviour, littering, and general disruption.

Environmental Health initially objected due to concerns about noise pollution. The Brondes Age Variation Report notes that the applicant, Tangerine Turtle Limited, has agreed to accept three additional conditions requested by Environmental Health, and one additional condition requested by the Licensing Authority. As a result, both Environmental Health and the Licensing Authority have withdrawn their representations.

The additional conditions include:

  • Installation of a sound limiting device.
  • Ensuring music emanating from the premises does not cause a nuisance.
  • Limiting the smoking area to a maximum of six patrons at any one time, with no drinks permitted in this area.
  • All front-of-house staff shall be trained in Welfare and Vulnerability Engagement (WAVE), Ask for Angela, and drink spiking awareness.

Brondes Age is also seeking to revise condition 41 from Annex 3 of the licence regarding door supervisors. The original condition stated that a minimum of three SIA licensed door supervisors shall be on duty at the premises after 22:00 on Friday night and 21:00 on Saturday nights whilst it is open for business, with a 'wand' available to carry out searches. The applicant wants to change the times to 22:30 on both Friday and Saturday nights.
