Redbridge Councillor Kabir Mahmud has been sanctioned for breaching the council's Members' Code of Conduct, following a decision by the Standards (Hearings) Sub-Committee. The decision was noted and approved at a full council meeting on Thursday, 18 September 2025.
The Sub-Committee found Councillor Mahmud in breach of paragraphs 1.1 (Respect), 2.3 (Discrimination), and 5 (Disrepute) of the Members' Code of Conduct. As a result, the Sub-Committee recommended that Councillor Mahmud be removed from committees for three months and that the Monitoring Officer arrange appropriate training for him.
