Several schools in Ealing have been granted exceptions to the legal requirement for daily collective worship of a broadly Christian character, as outlined in the Education Act of 1944. These exceptions, known as determinations, allow schools to provide alternative forms of collective gathering or reflection.

The Ealing Council Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) reviewed the updated list of school determinations during a meeting on Tuesday 30 September 2025. The council updates the determination schedule at each SACRE meeting, according to the SACRE Workplan 2025-2026.

The council reviewed a list of schools with existing determinations, which was part of the Public Reports Pack provided to the attendees of the meeting. The Collective Worship and Determinations -updated list of school determinations document lists the next determination date for each school. For example, Villiers High School's next determination date is September 2033.

According to the minutes of the June 17, 2025 meeting, some schools are implementing alternative forms of collective gathering. For example, Hambrough Primary School has a well-planned programme of assemblies and daily reflection that covered a wide range of religious viewpoints. These reflections sometimes cover other themes such as road and fire safety...as a moral aspect of their reflection.
