Fore Street restaurant denied late night refreshment licence

An Edmonton restaurant has been refused a licence to provide late night refreshments following a decision by Enfield Council's Licensing Sub-Committee.

The decision relates to Antep Tas Firin, located at 73 Fore Street. Saydinc Cooking Ltd, the applicant, had sought permission to serve late night refreshments until 3:30am daily, with a closing time of 4am. Late night refreshment applies to the sale of hot food and drink between 11pm and 5am.

The refusal came after a meeting of the Licensing Sub-Committee on Wednesday 7 May 2025. According to the Printed Minutes 07052025 1000 Licensing Sub-Committee, the Police objected to the application, citing concerns over crime and disorder in the area. PC Lisa Yianni, representing Police Licensing, stated that the area was a high crime area and that allowing another late-night establishment would further raise crime and disorder and anti-social behaviour .

According to the minutes, immigration officers had visited the premises on 4 February 2025 and made two arrests for immigration offences involving workers at the restaurant. PC Yianni stated that the premises management was a source of crime through illegally employing immigrants without the right to work .

The Licensing Sub-Committee, chaired by Councillor Mahym Bedekova, stated that it had considered the evidence provided by the Police and Immigration Officers. The sub-committee said it made its decision in promoting all four licensing objectives, and in particular those of the Prevention crime and disorder, public safety and the prevention of public nuisance.

The Printed Minutes 07052025 1000 Licensing Sub-Committee also note that the applicant requested a deferral of the hearing due to a family emergency, but the request was denied as no supporting evidence was provided.
