Croydon Council Seeks Director of Assets and Repairs to Oversee Housing and Regulatory Engagement

Croydon Council is seeking a new Director of Assets and Repairs to oversee critical housing and maintenance functions, with a salary range of £129,900-135,064, reflecting the 3.2% national pay award applicable from 1st April 2025.

The Appointments & Disciplinary Committee met on 16 October 2025 to conduct final panel interviews for the position. According to the Public Reports Pack, the role's job description is available online in the agenda pack from the 1 October 2025 meeting.

The need for the role was discussed at the previous Appointments & Disciplinary Committee meeting on 1 October 2025. According to the Part A Minutes, Susmita Sen, Corporate Director of Housing, stated that the Director of Assets and Repairs will be responsible for housing assets procurement, a range of maintenance and asset functions, all council housing, and oversight of temporary accommodation. The post holder will also lead council engagement with regulators for both social housing and building safety.

Specifically, the council is seeking someone to manage housing assets procurement, maintenance, council housing stock, and temporary accommodation. The new director will also be expected to engage with regulators for social housing and building safety.

At the 16 October meeting, Councillor Lynne Hale, Vice Chair of the Committee, reminded attendees that full details of the role and salary are available in the agenda pack for the 1 October meeting. The committee then moved to a private session to conduct the interviews. According to the Agenda Frontsheet, the interviews were held under Part B of the meeting, which is not open to the public.

During the open session, the committee approved the minutes from the previous meeting. Councillor Stuart King, Leader of the Opposition, thanked the committee for reflecting his comments regarding the appointment of the Chair of Audit. The committee then moved to exclude the press and public from the remainder of the meeting, as the agenda items were part B. This motion was seconded by Councillor King and agreed upon by the committee.
