Hounslow South, Isleworth and Osterley & Spring Grove Area Forum met on Tuesday to discuss waste management and enforcement, with a focus on fly-tipping. The meeting also addressed policing and highways updates, and provided an open forum for public questions.
Tim Hurley from Hounslow Highways was scheduled to provide an update on waste management and enforcement, covering several key areas, including:
- A summary of enforcement actions and fines issued for fly-tipping.
- A comparison of the total amount of fines issued for fly-tipping to previous years.
- The use of CCTV to monitor problem areas.
- The locations of CCTV cameras used to monitor fly-tipping, and their effectiveness in deterring or catching offenders.
- Engagement with local businesses to reduce commercial fly-tipping.
Farzana Wangde from Safer Community was scheduled to provide updates on recent incidents in Osterley and Spring Grove, as well as an assault in Hounslow South. Tim Hurley from Hounslow Highways was also due to deliver a strategic overview of local roadworks and highway maintenance, including an update on potholes and surface conditions across the three wards, clarification on the local authority's responsibilities regarding roadworks, and guidance on how residents and councillors can effectively raise concerns.
The agenda for the meeting also included ward-specific updates from councillors, encompassing good news stories, updates from each ward, ideas for new community projects or initiatives, and highlights of recent local successes. The councillors were also expected to address questions submitted in advance during the open forum, with the caveat that individual cases could not be discussed during the public forum. The public forum provided an opportunity for residents and stakeholders to raise local concerns, questions, or suggestions.
