Islington Council is seeking a new Director of Education and Achievement, offering a salary between £120,456 and £135,958. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting, enabling, and monitoring the delivery of the Islington Together 2030 Plan as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
The Islington Together 2030 Plan is the council's plan for making Islington a more equal place. The council highlighted the importance of this senior role in supporting the delivery of Islington's missions and objectives, particularly the Islington Together 2030 Plan, which aims to address educational inequalities and promote equality throughout the borough.
The Employment and Appointments Committee met on 14 October 2025 to discuss shortlisting candidates for the role. According to the agenda, the committee was asked to consider a report from the Director of Human Resources outlining the shortlisting process.
The Public reports pack stated that shortlisting applicants for interview was recommended. Information about each applicant was included in an exempt appendix to the report.
The committee is scheduled to interview candidates in December. Any offer of employment will be subject to the Executive Notification Procedure. A start date would be subject to discussion with the successful candidate.
The recruitment process is being conducted in accordance with the council's constitution.
At the meeting, Councillor Anjna Khurana chaired the meeting, with Councillors Janet Burgess MBE, Troy Gallagher, Una O'Halloran, and Flora Williamson also in attendance.
