Bromley's business community is poised to benefit from the Bromley Accelerator Programme, a business support initiative run by Bromley Council. Anthony Crowther, from Goldsmiths, University of London, was scheduled to provide an update on the programme at the Bromley Economic Partnership meeting on Tuesday, 14 October 2025.
The Bromley Economic Partnership convened to discuss several key initiatives aimed at bolstering the local economy. The minutes of the previous meeting on July 1, 2025, show that the partnership also received updates on the Openreach Bromley Gigabit Rollout, noting Openreach's £18m investment and connection of 79,000 of the 150,000 properties requiring a digital connection. Furthermore, findings from the UKSPF Supporting Local Business Evaluation were presented, indicating that output targets were exceeded across the board, with outcome targets surpassed in three out of five areas.
In addition to the Bromley Accelerator Programme, the agenda included updates on the Local Plan, presented by Ben Johnson, and discussions on the Bromley Works/Connect to Work scheme, led by Joe Baker, Connect to Work Programme Lead at Bromley Council. The Connect to Work programme, run by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), aims to support people into employment.
The previous meeting also included an Economic Development Service Update, which touched on developments within the borough and a delay in the DWP's Connect to Work Scheme. Partner updates featured discussions on footfall in The Glades, Biggin Hill Airport, and events hosted by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).
