Hammersmith and Fulham's Law Enforcement Team (LET) conducted over 20,000 patrols and issued more than 500 fines between January and March 2025, according to a report presented to the Social Inclusion and Community Safety Policy and Accountability Committee. The report, part of the Public reports pack 18th-Jun-2025 19.00 Social Inclusion and Community Safety Policy and Accountab.pdf, highlights the team's efforts to address residents' problems and maintain a visible presence in the borough.
LET officers responded to 1,228 service requests from residents and businesses, addressing issues ranging from fly-tipping to highway obstruction. The 501 fixed penalty notices issued covered offences such as littering and fly-tipping. The team also conducted 4,258 patrols on housing land and 2,925 patrols in parks.
Keeping residents safe is a high priority, with officers conducting 1,124 weapons sweeps, removing knives from the streets. The LET also supported the London Fire Brigade during a flat fire on the Clem Atlee Estate and assisted with crowd control on Hammersmith Bridge.
Beyond enforcement, the LET plays a supportive role. The LET aims to be the 'front face of the council for many', offering help, support and advice, and addressing residents' problems,
the report states. This includes assisting vulnerable individuals, with staff trained to administer naloxone, a medication used to reverse the effects of opioids, and working with outreach workers to monitor the borough's street population.
