Bexley Council is collaborating with Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham, and Bromley to launch a joint strategy aimed at enhancing sexual and reproductive health across the boroughs.

The Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham, Bexley and Bromley Sexual and Reproductive Health and HIV Strategy 2025-2030 (LSLBB Strategy) was approved at a Public Cabinet meeting on Thursday, October 23, 2025. The strategy addresses rising STI rates and health inequalities through a collaborative approach, ensuring resources are used effectively to reach those most in need, as detailed in the Public reports pack.

Dr. Kleinman presented the strategy, emphasising the necessity of working together to tackle these pressing issues. The strategy outlines four main themes:

  • Healthy and fulfilling sexual relationships
  • Improving reproductive health
  • Reducing the rates of sexually transmitted infections
  • Preventing and living well with HIV

Councillor Stefano Borella inquired about specific actions planned for the north of the borough, where HIV prevalence is higher. Dr. Kleinman responded that a CCPL (Community Care Primary Link) is in place, funded by the NHS, to address these local needs. When asked about other specific initiatives planned to address the higher HIV prevalence in the north of Bexley, Dr. Kleinman stated that the CCPL is one of the GPs paid for by the NHS.
