Tower Hamlets Council is seeking a permanent Corporate Director of Resources to provide stability after a period of interim arrangements. According to the Public Reports Pack, acting up arrangements have been in place to cover this post pending permanent recruitment. The report pack argued that not recruiting to the post would mean continuing with interim arrangements, which will not create the necessary stability that is required by filling a Corporate Director role on a permanent basis.
The Appointments Sub-Committee convened on Tuesday 21 October 2025, to discuss the longlisting of candidates for the key role. The Public Reports Pack states that the position was advertised from 4 September 2025 to 5 October 2025, across various platforms including the council's website, Penna Exec Search, the Municipal Journal, PF Jobs, and social media. Penna, the recruitment consultants, also undertook a targeted executive search.
The sub-committee was asked to agree on a longlist of candidates to be invited for first-stage technical interviews. A report pack prepared by Penna, was provided to the sub-committee for consideration.
Councillors were also asked to declare any interests that may affect their impartiality, in accordance with Section 106 of the Local Government Finance Act 1992 and guidance from the Interim Monitoring Officer. 1
The Agenda Frontsheet indicates that the next meeting of the Appointment Sub-Committee is scheduled for Wednesday, 5 November 2025 at 5.00 p.m.
