Croydon Council is considering a salary of up to £169,403 for an Interim Corporate Director of Sustainable Communities, Regeneration & Economic Recovery, while the council reviews its 'Future Croydon' transformation strategy and organisational design.
The Appointments & Disciplinary Committee met on Monday, 27 October 2025, to discuss and approve the salary package and begin the selection process for the interim position, which is expected to last six to nine months, with the possibility of extension depending on operational needs.
The committee agreed to a salary range of £159,866 to £169,403, which includes a 3.2% national pay award applicable from 1 April 2025. Alternatively, the role can be compensated at a day rate of £800 to £900, as per the council's pay policy. According to the Public Reports Pack, the salary and associated costs will be covered from the existing budget.

The role is also expected to contribute to the delivery of the Mayor's Business Plan and the council's transformation plan. The Interim Corporate Director will work collaboratively with other corporate directors, the assistant chief executive, and the chief executive to deliver the Mayor's Business Plan, Future Croydon Transformation Plan, and a financially sustainable Council.
According to the agenda, Councillor Lynne Hale, Vice-Chair of the Committee, chaired the meeting. Attendees included Councillor Jason Cummings, Councillor Stuart King, Councillor Enid Mollyneaux, Councillor Callton Young OBE, Elaine Jackson, and Jane West.
The committee voted unanimously to approve the salary package and undertake the selection process. The meeting then moved into Part B, excluding the press and public, to discuss candidate details.
