Haringey Council has published a comprehensive list of all CCTV cameras operating within the borough, detailing their locations and types. The list was included in the Public Reports Pack for the Cabinet Member Signing meeting on Wednesday, 5 November 2025. The Public Reports Pack includes a full CCTV asset register for the borough.

The publication coincides with the extension of the CCTV maintenance contract with TYCO Fire & Integrated Solutions (UK) Limited t/a TYCO Integrated Fire & Security [TYCO] for one year, running from 1 December 2025 to 30 November 2026. Councillor Ajda Ovat, Cabinet Member for Communities, approved the extension, allocating up to £900,000 for the service. The total contract value now stands at £2,736,668.

The contract with TYCO covers the maintenance of community safety, traffic enforcement, and School Streets cameras, as well as CCTV infrastructure equipment servers in River Park House and equipment in the CCTV control room in Alexandra House. The contract provides all labour, parts, spares, access vehicles, tools, and resources to carry out fully comprehensive contractual maintenance, including planned preventative maintenance and fault repair of the CCTV systems throughout the borough.

The council decided to extend the contract to align its expiry with another contract for CCTV control room equipment and cameras, which ends in February 2027. The council believes that combining the two contracts into one integrated contract will ensure efficiencies and value for money.

Alternative options were considered, including doing nothing, which was rejected due to the risk of infrastructure failure and loss of CCTV capability. Re-procuring the contract immediately was also rejected as it would result in a period without CCTV maintenance and undermine the plan to combine the supply and maintenance of CCTV equipment under one contract.

The council secured savings on the maintenance contract for the next 12 months, including a price freeze and no RPI uplift, representing a saving of £35,257.

The council's CCTV operation contributes to the 'Safer Haringey' theme of the Corporate Delivery Plan, specifically the Secure and supported communities outcome area. The Public Reports Pack states that CCTV helps to detect and deter crime, reduces fear of crime, and helps maintain a secure and safe environment for all community members. The traffic enforcement operation supports safe streets, active travel, and better air quality, contributing to the council's climate emergency response.

Of the £900,000 allocated for the contract extension, a portion will be recharged between the parking service and community safety, dependent on the number of cameras and proportionality of associated costs. Last year, 25% of costs were recharged to the Community Safety account.
