Hillingdon Council is set to review its footway parking exemptions in priority areas, focusing on roads near schools, GP surgeries, and shopping parades, as well as those with accessibility concerns. The review will also consider roads where parking enforcement is currently suspended.

The decision was scheduled to be discussed at the Residents' Services Select Committee meeting on 6 November 2025, where key officers from the council's Transportation and Parking Enforcement teams were expected to provide evidence.

  • Review footway parking arrangements on priority roads, including those with suspended enforcement.
  • Check the clarity and adequacy of signage and information for residents and visitors.
  • Examine how enforcement currently operates and identify any gaps or inconsistencies.

  • Look at good practice from other London boroughs.
  • Make initial recommendations to Cabinet on how to improve safety, accessibility and enforcement.

The council will measure the success of the review by making initial recommendations to the Cabinet on how to improve safety, accessibility, and enforcement in these priority locations, establishing a policy framework for any wider review of this across the Borough in the future.
