Haringey Council is set to procure a catering operator for the Civic Centre, aiming to enhance facilities for both staff and the public. The council is recommending an early procurement process to allow the selected operator to actively contribute to the selection of appropriate kitchen equipment for the Welcome Café.
The decision, made during a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, 11 November 2025, will establish a framework from which the council can select a café operator concession for the Civic Centre and other council-owned assets for a period of four years.
The Civic Centre includes a small café concession within the Welcome space on the Ground Floor, accessible to both staff and the public. The council aims to streamline procurement when opportunities are identified, underpinned by a robust business case and proposal from a framework-approved operator.
According to the council, there are approximately 16 concessions/caterers currently operating in council-owned assets across the borough, with the potential to expand this to around 35. The feasibility for each potential opportunity will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
The procurement strategy for the Civic Centre will prioritise opportunities for local suppliers, supporting the local economy and fostering community engagement and the potential for social value.
