Worcester Park Library's community pocket garden is set to receive a £5,000 boost, thanks to funding allocated by the North Cheam, Stonecot and Worcester Park Local Committee.

The funding, discussed at the committee's meeting on 11 November 2025, will be used to improve soil quality, replace deteriorating edging, plant diverse perennial plants, install seating, and organise community events at the library.

The revitalisation project is being funded through the Neighbourhood Fund, which draws on developer contributions. The amount of funding available each year depends on how much Community Infrastructure Levy the council has collected from developments in each area. A chart in the Public Reports Pack details the funding opportunity.

The public consultation on which projects should receive funding was open until 16 November. As the meeting was held before the consultation closed, the results were not available at the time of the meeting.

The Local Funding Update presented to the committee also highlighted other funding avenues, including the Sutton Community Fund and Local Committee Funding (neighbourhood grants). The Sutton Community Fund is available to Charity, Faith and Community groups with an income of less than £100,000 who can apply for up to £5,000 . The Local Committee Funding (neighbourhood grants) allows groups to apply for up to £1,400 from local committees for community events and projects.

Other projects discussed at the meeting included public realm improvements, such as new bins on Buckland Way, new perennial plants in various locations, and improvements to Fairlands Park. Fairlands Park is set to receive inclusive play equipment and a paved circle refurbishment. There is also a separate allocation of £27,100 for replacement wheelchair accessible roundabout and additional bench seating at Fairlands Park.

The agenda for the meeting also included updates on winter preparedness, a community showcase by the Sutton Model Engineering Club & Miniature Railway, and a presentation by Citizens Advice Sutton.
