Newham Council has approved the amalgamation of Odessa Infant School and St James' Church of England Junior School. The decision, made by Laura Eden, Corporate Director of Children and Young People, follows a pre-statutory consultation.
The next step in the process is the publication of a statutory notice regarding the proposed amalgamation. The decision was formally approved at an Officer Non-Key Decision meeting on Monday, 10 November 2025, according to the meeting minutes.
The decision was based on a report titled, Proposed amalgamation of Odessa-St. The report included a summary of the consultation feedback in Consultation feedback Report- Odessa infant and St.James proposed amalgamation, and an Equality Impact Assessment (EqIA) in EqIA-Proposed amalgamation of Odessa Infant and St.James Junior.
