Ealing's Local Plan, a document that will shape the borough's development over the next 15 years, is set to undergo public examination in December, according to a recent meeting of the Economy and Sustainability Scrutiny Panel.
The Ealing Local Plan sets out the vision, strategic priorities, and planning policy framework for development, in line with the council's priorities. It must align with national, regional and local strategies, particularly on industrial growth and the high growth sectors.
The plan also aims to implement a polycentric growth model
and the council's commitment to 20-minute neighbourhoods,
ensuring residents have access to jobs, services, and amenities within walking or cycling distance.
At the meeting on 18 November 2025, the panel received an update on the Local Plan from Jennifer Peters, Assistant Director of Planning, Design and Sustainability.
The Local Plan is part of the development plan, alongside the London Plan and Neighbourhood Plans. It will be updated to reflect forthcoming changes in the London Plan, particularly around housing and jobs targets. The draft Local Plan also includes ambitious net zero policies
that will underpin all development in West Ealing.
The next hearings regarding the Local Plan are scheduled for December.
