Hillingdon Council has approved a new school for children with severe and profound disabilities. The Pinn River School, which will provide 180 places for children with severe and profound disabilities, will be run by the Eden Academy Trust. The Hillingdon Council cabinet agreed to grant a 125-year lease to the Eden Academy Trust for the new Pinn River School at a meeting on Thursday, 20 November 2025, subject to Department for Education (DfE) approval for the formal closure of Grangewood School. The Cabinet Agenda provides further details on the decision.
The new school will replace Grangewood School within the Eden Academy Trust, ensuring a smooth transition for current students. The former site has been demolished and the new school building is nearing completion, with an anticipated opening early in the New Year.
According to the minutes of the meeting, Cabinet introduced a report regarding the new Pinn River School, which would replace Grangewood School within the Eden Academy Trust.
As this is a new school, a new lease was required, and the proposal set out in the Cabinet Report was to grant a one-to-five-year lease on standard terms for use of the property as a school. Cabinet agreed the new lease for the new school.
