Islington Council is set to award the Freedom of the Borough at a meeting on 21 November 2025. The council has stated that no other business will be conducted at this meeting.
The agenda for the meeting states that the council will consider a motion to award the honour under Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972. This act allows the council to award Freedom of the Borough to persons of distinction and persons who have, in the opinion of the authority, rendered eminent services to the borough.
The meeting, scheduled for 3:00 pm in the Council Chamber at the Town Hall, will have Councillor Jason Jackson (Mayor) and Councillor Rosaline Ogunro (Deputy Mayor) in attendance, along with Councillor Una O'Halloran (Leader of the Council,) and other councillors.
