Hackney Council has formally responded to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) consultation, outlining its position on proposed changes to the scheme.
The consultation covers a range of proposed changes to the LGPS, including expanding access to the scheme for more part-time and low-paid workers, providing greater protection for members against inflation and other risks, simplifying the scheme's rules and regulations, and improving the scheme's governance and transparency.
The Hackney Council Pensions Committee convened on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, to discuss and approve the draft response to the LGPS consultation on scheme improvements, access, and protections. The consultation, detailed in Appendix 1 - Consultation LGPS _ Scheme improvements access and protections - GOV.UK 2, covers these proposed changes.
The council's response, as outlined in Appendix 2 - Hackney PF Response to Consultation, details its stance on each proposed change, offering comments and suggestions.
