Newham Council has appointed Daniel Carr as the new Chair of the Audit and Governance Committee, along with Alexandra Ngini and Joanne Pitt as independent members. The appointments, approved at a council meeting on Monday, 8 December 2025, are for a three-year term. The council is asked to approve the appointment of Daniel Carr as Chair of the Audit and Governance Committee for a three-year term, and to approve the appointment of Alexandra Ngini and Joanne Pitt as independent members of the committee for a three-year term.
Councillor Terry Paul, vice chair of the audit and governance committee, thanked the outgoing independent members, especially Fiona Marsh, who's been the current chair of the committee, who's done a number of years on the committee and served an extension.
He also acknowledged the contributions of Seth, noting that both he and Fiona Marsh were New York residents who dedicated their time to the committee. Both members were, or are, New York residents. They give up their time, and some of you know, the audit committee is the best committee in the council... But also, I think it's important that we thank our residents who give up their time and have to read some very dry reports and really ask some good questions.
The council has delegated authority to the Monitoring Officer to finalise appointment arrangements and induction for the new members. The council noted that the appointments were made following a process to ensure transparency and fairness, as outlined in the Audit Governance Appointments Council Report.
