A Sutton KFC faces objections from the council's Pollution Control Team regarding its application for a late-night refreshment licence. The Licensing Sub-Committee of Sutton Council is scheduled to convene on Thursday 26 June 2025 to discuss the application for the KFC restaurant at 200-202 High Street, Sutton, SM1 1NR.
TRC Realty Limited, the applicant, seeks permission to provide late-night refreshments from 23:00 to 02:00, Monday to Sunday. John Gaunt & Partners submitted the application on their behalf. The application includes plans for the premises and proposed hours of operation.
While the Metropolitan Police initially raised concerns, these were addressed through amendments to the operating schedule, including CCTV coverage and incident log maintenance, detailed in Appendix 3.
However, the Council's Pollution Control Team has submitted a representation, included as Appendix 4, arguing that the application does not adequately address the prevention of public nuisance. Their concerns focus on noise from vehicles, doors, and people congregating outside the premises. The team suggests that extended hours outside of deregulated hours should be refused.
The Licensing Sub-Committee must consider the Secretary of State's Guidance issued under section 182 of the Licensing Act 2003 and the council's Licensing Policy, with regard to the four licensing objectives: the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, the prevention of public nuisance, and the protection of children from harm. The Sub-Committee can grant the application as requested, grant it with conditions, exclude licensable activities, or reject the application. The meeting will be held on Thursday 26 June 2025.
