Islington Council is reviewing its support services for tenants at risk of homelessness, with a focus on the Independent Housing Intensive Support (IHIS) service. The review aims to assess the service's effectiveness, cost, and potential improvements.
The Homes and Communities Scrutiny Committee convened on Thursday 18 December 2025 to discuss the IHIS service review. The IHIS service provides crucial support to tenants facing the risk of losing their homes. Councillor Hannah McHugh, Chair of the Homes and Communities Scrutiny Committee and Equalities Champion, led the committee in examining the service's performance.
The review, detailed in the IHIS Review Report - HL Nov_25, includes data on the number of people using the IHIS service, the types of support provided, and the service's success in preventing homelessness. It also contains recommendations for changes to the IHIS service and information on the cost of the IHIS service.
