Newham Council is evaluating its experimental 'People Friendly Streets' scheme in the West Ham Park area (Area 8), with a decision on its future expected at the Officer Key Decision meeting on Friday 19th December 2025. The meeting will address the evaluation of the experimental People Friendly Streets scheme in the West Ham Park area, also known as Area 8. The council will consider feedback from residents to determine whether to permanently implement, modify, or remove the scheme.
The scheme, aimed at prioritising pedestrians and cyclists, has generated a range of responses, detailed in the Engagement Report. The council sought feedback to help shape the community's future, as shown on the West Ham Park LTN website.

Feedback on the scheme has been varied. The West Ham Park TMO OKD Report v7 details the evaluation of the experimental scheme.
Some residents have expressed concerns about negative impacts such as traffic, pollution and noise. However, others have reported active travel improvements. The Appendix A - Scheme Masterplan provides a visual representation of the scheme, while Appendix B - General Arrangement offers a more technical layout.

The council also prepared an Equality Impact Assessment to assess the potential impacts of the scheme on different groups within the community, and a Statement of Reasons outlining the rationale behind the scheme's implementation.
The future of the scheme will be decided following the evaluation of this feedback.
