Tower Hamlets Council has committed £100 million over the next five years to improve its existing housing stock, as part of a wider capital investment programme. This significant investment aims to enhance the quality and safety of the council's housing, bringing the total planned investment to £318 million.
Key to the housing investment is the commitment to improving existing properties, addressing issues such as damp, mould, fire safety, and general upkeep. This is in addition to the council's ambitious house-building programme, which aims to deliver over 6,000 new homes by May 2026, with nearly 3,500 of these being additional, predominantly social homes on council-owned land.
