The committee, chaired by Councillor Iqbal Hossain (Chair of Development Committee), considered a planning application (reference PA/24/02227) for the demolition of Albert Jacob House at 62 Roman Road, London, E2 0PG, and its replacement with a mixed-use development. The proposed development includes a building of 5 to 9 storeys, commercial space at ground floor level, and 53 affordable residential units. Associated landscaping, relocation of a sub station, and revised parking arrangements are also part of the plan.

The applicant for the planning permission is listed as the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, with Child Graddon Lewis/NTA Planning LLP as the architect/agent. According to the Public reports pack, the development would deliver 53 affordable rent homes, split evenly between London Affordable Rent and Tower Hamlets Living Rent, alongside 5 ground floor commercial units providing a total of 349.81sqm of flexible Class E floorspace.

The committee also addressed several procedural items, including electing a Vice-Chair for the committee for the municipal year 2025-26, confirming the minutes of the previous meeting, and noting recommendations and procedures for hearing objections. The Development Committee Terms of Reference for 2025/2026 were also reviewed, and the preferred start time for scheduled meetings was to be determined.

The meeting was scheduled to be broadcast live on the council's website.
