Barnet Council has committed to a significant programme of improvements for the borough's roads and pavements, with a £97 million investment planned.

This record investment, detailed in a motion passed by the Council, aims to enhance the condition of highways across Barnet for all users, including motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

In addition to the £97 million programme, a further £3.7 million is being invested in road safety measures, cycle infrastructure, and bus priority schemes, funded by Transport for London.

The motion, moved by Councillor Alan Schneiderman, Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change, was carried by the Council, with an opposition amendment proposed by Councillor David Longstaff being lost.
