Fulham Football Club's training ground in Motspur Park is seeking a new premises licence to sell alcohol, but the application has faced objections from local residents.
The Kingston upon Thames Licensing Sub-Committee is scheduled to discuss the application for the Fulham Football Club Training Ground, Motspur Park, New Malden, KT3 6PT, on Tuesday 1 July 2025. Fulham Football Club Limited is seeking authorisation to sell alcohol for consumption on the premises only, from 10:00 to 23:00 every day.
According to the Public Reports Pack, representations were received from the Metropolitan Police and the Council's Trading Standards Officer, but these were later withdrawn after the applicant agreed to amend their operating schedule.
However, three valid representations were received from other persons, raising concerns related to the Prevention of Crime and Disorder, and the Prevention of Public Nuisance licensing objectives.
One representation highlighted issues such as reckless driving by people entering and exiting the premises, inconsiderate parking, and the potential for increased disorderly behaviour and crime if alcohol is consumed.
Another raised concerns about increased noise and anti-social behaviour, and a lack of consideration for local residents.
A third simply stated an objection to the application, arguing that there is no need for a licensed premises in the area.
To address these concerns, Fulham Football Club Limited has proposed several conditions, including:
- The Premises Licence will only be in operation during home football matches of either the Women's First Team or designated Under 21 football matches.
- A comprehensive CCTV system will be installed and maintained.
- A personal licence holder shall be present at all times sales of alcohol are taking place.
- No glass bottles or glass receptacles containing beverages of any kind shall be given to customers on the premises.
- Customers will not be permitted to bring glass bottles or alcohol into the premises, or to remove drinks from the premises.
- All staff will be trained to ask customers to leave quietly, with appropriate signage requesting the same.
The agenda for the Licensing Sub-Committee meeting indicates that the Fulham Football Club Training Ground application will be discussed after an application for a new premises licence for Chicken King, a fast food shop in Tolworth.
