Southwark Council's Cabinet has reviewed its achievements and performance over the 2022-2026 term, noting significant progress in key areas including housing, education, and environmental initiatives.
The End of Term Report 2022-2026
was presented at a Cabinet meeting on Monday, March 16, 2026, highlighting the council's delivery against its Council Delivery Plan commitments. The report can be found here.

Key achievements detailed in the report include the construction of 2,500 new council homes, with over 600 more currently under construction, positioning Southwark as a leader in council house building. The council has also invested £250 million in improving existing council homes, focusing on safety, maintenance, and energy efficiency.
In education, 99% of Southwark schools are rated as Good or Outstanding by Ofsted, with GCSE results remaining above national averages. The council has also expanded special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) provision, creating 100 more local special school places.
Environmentally, Southwark has planted over 13,000 trees during the term, becoming the first inner London borough with over 100,000 trees on council-owned land. The council's operational carbon emissions have been reduced by 18% since 2022.
The Cabinet also noted the Corporate Parenting Annual Report 2025, which details progress on the corporate parenting strategy and support for children in care and care leavers. The report is available here.

Changes to the housing allocations scheme will allow care leavers access to one-bed properties, bedsits, and studio properties. The specific timeline for these changes is not yet specified.
