Enfield has experienced a significant reduction in knife crime, with a 6.4% decrease in offences over the past 12 months. This positive trend is particularly notable in knife crimes involving injury, which have fallen by 23.2%, and offences where the victim was aged between 1 and 24, seeing an 18% reduction. The decrease in knife crime, including offences involving young victims, was attributed to preventative work across youth services and early intervention programmes,
according to Jonathon Toy, Head of Community Safety.

These figures were presented at the Healthy and Safe Communities Scrutiny Panel meeting on Wednesday, 18 March 2026, as part of an update on community safety performance. The overall crime figures, which saw a 4.2% reduction in total notifiable offences, were also discussed. This broader decrease was attributed to sustained partnership work, particularly in violence reduction,
as detailed in the SSCB Performance Report for February 2026 SSCB Performance Report February 2026.
Mr. Toy highlighted that the preventative work across youth services and early intervention programmes has been instrumental in achieving these reductions in knife crime. He also noted that non-domestic violence with injury has seen a marked decrease.
While the overall crime figures are encouraging, Mr. Toy acknowledged that work continues in hotspot areas. These identified areas include Edmonton Green, Upper Edmonton, Ponders End, Haselbury, Brimsdown, and Southbury. Furthermore, the partnership tasking group is exploring the application of the Pisces model in Southgate and Palmers Green, where similar patterns of concern are emerging.
However, he concluded that the overall direction of travel for community safety in Enfield is positive.
