The sub-committee considered a request to extend the decision deadline for licensing applications at a meeting on Tuesday, due to a high volume of cases. The Licensing Sub Committee extended the decision deadline to 31st July 2025 for the following applications:

  • Asia Villa, 267 East India Dock Road E14 0EG
  • Powerleague Padel, Braithwaite Street, London E1 6GJ
  • Feast Express, 103 Whitechapel Road, London E1 1DT

Details of the extension request were provided at the meeting, according to the agenda.

The committee, chaired by Councillor Peter Goldson, also addressed applications for new premise licences for Fabwick and Feast Express. These applications involved consideration of various factors, including adherence to licensing objectives and potential impact on the local community.

Fabwick, described by the applicant as a bar and restaurant with a function room, applied for a new premise licence for the sale of alcohol (on and off sales), regulated entertainment (plays, live and recorded music, dance), and provision of late-night refreshments. Feast Express, described as a small takeaway restaurant with 45 seats, applied for a new premises licence for the provision of late-night refreshment.

However, both applications faced objections from the Licensing Authority. The Licensing Authority objected to the Fabwick application on the grounds of prevention of public nuisance, and crime and disorder. The Licensing Authority objected to the Feast Express application on the grounds of prevention of crime and disorder and the prevention of public nuisance.

The meeting was held in person, with members and key participants present, and was filmed for the Council's website. Councillor Goldson emphasised the importance of maintaining a collegiate atmosphere during the proceedings.

The Licensing Sub Committee is scheduled to meet again on Thursday, 17 July 2025.
