Brent Council's General Purposes Committee has approved a senior management restructure within Adult Social Care, reducing the number of senior managers from five to two. The changes are expected to be implemented by April 1st.
This move aims to improve focus on the customer journey and address significant role clarity issues. Councillor Harbi Farah had previously questioned the impact of senior management departures on service continuity and improvement, particularly in light of the department's required improvement
CQC rating.
In response, the report author explained that the restructure was designed to enhance services by eliminating overlapping portfolios and confusion among senior managers. From the current structure, we've got a lot of senior managers that are overlapping portfolios, and it causes a bit of confusion and lack of clarity around who should be doing what,
the author stated. The new structure will resolve these issues by concentrating on the front and back ends of the customer journey, with each deputy director having service managers working specifically with services.
To ensure service continuity during and after the restructure, the council will pay the notice period for redundancies, facilitating the implementation of the new structure by the April 1st deadline. The new model will also see an increased number of service managers to compensate for the reduction in senior roles.
