Islington is set to expand its provision for girls' football with the installation of a new 'No More Red' pitch, a collaborative initiative with Arsenal and adidas.

The new pitch is planned to be installed later in 2026 . The specific location of the pitch has not yet been announced, with a council report stating that this information hasn't been announced just yet .

The plan was revealed during a meeting of the Environment, Climate and Transport Scrutiny Committee on Monday, April 13, 2026, where an update on the council's leisure services was presented. The 'No More Red' campaign aims to tackle the lack of opportunity for young people in the UK to play football due to socio-economic barriers.

This new pitch will be the latest addition to the borough's growing football facilities.

The meeting also covered updates on other leisure services, including progress on decarbonisation efforts such as the installation of solar panels on leisure centre roofs. See Public reports pack 13th-Apr-2026 19.30 Environment Climate and Transport Scrutiny Committee for more details.
