Croydon Council is set to introduce a status on a page
system to provide clearer, more concise updates on ongoing housing issues.
The initiative, proposed by Chief Executive Elaine Jackson, aims to streamline information flow to the Housing Assurance Board (HAB) by offering at-a-glance updates without the need for lengthy reports or in-depth discussions. The system is intended to cover various issues, such as heat networks and competency conduct standards, providing assurance that matters are being addressed.
During a HAB meeting on Monday, April 13, 2026, councillors discussed the status on a page
approach as a method to efficiently inform the board about the progress of these ongoing issues. This new reporting method is designed to outline government legislation, regulations, timelines, challenges, and the current status of each item. For instance, regarding heat networks, it would detail registration deadlines, required actions by specific dates, and any current challenges.

The board agreed to adopt this approach, with the expectation that it will not necessitate the creation of additional reports. The system is described as a method where you just, as it says, just how are we doing? Where are we at?
to demonstrate progress.
While the status on a page
system is designed to avoid deep dives for issues that do not require them, a mechanism for the HAB to request more detailed information will be in place. If issues are not progressing as expected, the board can initiate a deep dive
to gather more comprehensive data.
This development comes as the council continues to address housing matters, with reports such as the Housing Overview Performance April 2026 and the HAB Performance Report April 2026 being presented to the board. Other relevant documents include the HAB Forward Plan and the HAB Action Log - Landlord.
